Lake on Flat Creek is served by Johnson City Independent School District. The three schools are:
- Lyndon B Johnson Elementary School
- Lyndon B Johnson Middle School
- Lyndon B Johnson High School
Johnson City schools are known for their high level of personalized attention and technological innovations. TAAS reading, writing and math scores are consistently above state averages, with exceptional performance among middle and high school students. The schools have gifted and talented programs, honors and advanced placement classes, along with special education pro-grams. The high school and middle schools have implemented wireless technology. Voters in the District recently passed a multi-million dollar bond issue, and a new 40-acre high school campus is currently under construction with completion anticipated in 2005. Money is also budgeted to renovate the existing elementary and middle schools.
